Celebrate Your Air Conditioner On National AC Day

Did you know it’s National AC Day? How odd - we did. As HVAC experts, we’ve seen our fair share of cooling emergencies. That might sound strange, and not quite as dangerous as a heating emergency in the dead of winter. However, keeping a home at a reasonable temperature can indeed become an emergency.

Whether for medical reasons you need the home to stay at a constant, adequately cool temperature or you have a house full of teenage girls trying to get their hair and makeup finished before the prom and the Air Conditioning dies, the results are disastrous.

Perhaps it’s a rather obscure holiday that doesn’t get as much attention as Christmas and Valentine’s Day, but it is nonetheless an important time to recognize how Air Conditioners have improved our quality of life, especially when we step inside our air-conditioned homes, escaping from the sweltering heat.

Of course, air conditioners, like all appliances, require maintenance, repairs, and replacement. So, it’s also a time to recognize the HVAC experts who keep our air conditioners in good working order. It’s also the perfect time to schedule a routine check-up and have your annual air conditioner maintenance done.

Routine Maintenance Is Your Friend

airconditioningmaintenanceLike getting a cleaning at the dentist, an oil change, or going to the doctor, scheduling timely maintenance on your air conditioning can be irritating and inconvenient.

It takes up your time, it’s an expense and, if your AC appears to be operating without any problems, it can feel like a waste of money. Plus, it’s easy to procrastinate when we have so many other responsibilities to take care of that seem to be more important.

However, as with anything else, it’s never a good idea to wait until something is definitely wrong to call an expert. Waiting to see the dentist when you need a root canal instead of having a cavity taken care of back when it was in a more manageable state is the same idea.

Putting off regular maintenance, check-ups and repairs may save you some money in the short-term, but in the long-run, it is setting you up to deal with a costly, major repair that is far more problematic.

Is An AC Replacement Needed?

acreplacementEven with routine maintenance, proper care and the selection of a high-quality model, like all appliances, air conditioners have a shelf life. Even the most carefully engineered appliances are subject to eventual failure given the requisite amount of time.

While some AC problems are indeed fixable, others are considered total failure, such as destruction of the interior wiring, the motor burning out, and so forth. It becomes either impossible to fix an AC in this state, or more expensive to fix it than simply replacing it.

This is, of course, assuming some aberration didn’t cause your AC to file while it was still under warranty; which is a different situation entirely. If your air conditioner is several years old when it fails and you choose to have it replaced by an expert, you will be pleasantly surprised at how AC technology an ingenuity has advanced in recent years.

Air conditioners are more efficient, using less energy, and more effective at cooling down your home. Additionally, hiring an expert to install your AC gives you the guarantee of quality workmanship, proper installation, and a reliable contact in the event the AC needs any future adjustments.

Beat Dust With Duct Cleaning

ductcleaningAs part of caring for your AC, you can carefully dust it or use a vacuum extension to remove debris and other particles from the vents and ducts.

However, this should be done in addition to, as opposed to in place of, professional duct cleaning. HVAC contractors have the specialized tools, knowledge, and expertise needed to properly clean your AC vents.

This is important to reduce the presence of allergens, dust, dirt and other unwanted particles in the air. It also prevents mold and mildew from accumulating in the vents, which can be harmful if inhaled. Celebrate National AC Day by scheduling an appointment with one of the HVAC experts from Easco Air Conditioning and Heating of Conroe (936) 539-2653.

And be sure to show your local HVAC expert your appreciation by giving him or her a shoutout on social media. Remember, these are the men and women that keep our air conditioners going during the dog days of summer, and allow us to be comfortable all year round.
